Then said the princes of the Philistines, What do these Hebrews here? And Achish said unto the princes of the Philistines, Is not this David, the servant of Saul the king of Israel, which hath been with me these days, or these years, and I have found no fault in him since he fell unto me unto this day?
Then the Philistine commanders asked, 'What are these Hebrews doing here?' Achish replied to the other Philistine leaders, 'Isn't this David, who served King Saul of Israel? He's been with me for days, even years now, and I haven't found anything wrong with him from the day he came to me until today.'
The Philistine commanders questioned why David and his men were there, but Achish defended David's loyalty and character based on his time serving with them.
